Sistrun, We Got Issues!!! Creator
 |
The creator of We Got Issues!!! graduated from the Pennsylvania State
University with a B.A. in Journalism, minors in Speech Communications and
African American Studies. After graduating from college she worked at Fox
News in Philadelphia. Disturbed by the negative portrayal of
African-Americans in the news, Ms. Sistrun left her job with Fox and went to
work in the News and Public Affairs Department of Black Entertainment
Television (BET). While at BET, she worked as a part of the news staff for
BET Tonight with Tavis Smiley, followed by ED Gordon, and then Jacque Reid.
Ms. Sistrun is using her public affairs background to combat the
overwhelming lack of social responsibility that plagues the media, greatly
contributing to the stereotyping of underrepresented groups. The creation
of We Got Issues!!! is an effort to keep silenced voices heard in
communities around the world.
